US SENATOR JIM WEBB SPEAKS WITH DAVID BENDER AT TOWN HALL LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles, CA ??" Wednesday, June 11, 2008 ??" The Honorable Jim Webb, US Senator-Virginia, will speak with David Bender, radio host, on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at UCLA???s Faculty Center as a part of TOWN HALL???s ongoing Writers Bloc series.

 

In his latest book, ???A Time to Fight: Reclaiming a Fair and Just America, Senator Webb talks about ending the war in Iraq, restoring fairness to our economic system, greater government accountability, and redirecting national security efforts. His populist manifesto calls upon voters to make the choices in this election season that will change America for the better.

 

Webb graduated from the Naval Academy in l968 and received his JD degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1975. In 2004, Webb was embedded as a journalist with the US military in Afghanistan. He became a US Senator in 2007.

 

Bender is the host of "Politically Direct with David Bender" on the Air America Radio Network. His four-decade career as a political activist began when he took a "leave of absence" from the seventh grade to become a full-time volunteer in Senator Robert F. Kennedy???s presidential campaign. In 2003, Bender returned to politics as senior advisor to Governor Howard Dean???s bid for the presidency.

 

Throughout its 70-year history, TOWN HALL has hosted discussions with US Senators Russ Feingold, Dianne Feinstein, Chuck Hagel and John McCain. This year, TOWN HALL???s Writers Bloc welcomed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
