Los Angeles, CA ??" Tuesday, September 25, 2007 ??" John Dean, presidential historian and author of ???Broken Government: How Republican Rule Destroyed the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches comes to speak with New Yorker columnist, Paul Slansky on Monday, October 8, 2007, at Temple Emanuel in Beverly Hills. Angelenos concerned about the current state of the presidential office and what is to come in 2008 have the opportunity to ask both these authors and historians their opinions.

 

John Dean served as White House Counsel to President Richard Nixon. He is an expert on presidential history and writes extensively on the current administration. Dean compares his former boss' scandals and behavior to President George W. Bush. His book, ???Worse Than Watergate, has been described as a provocative tale of the Bush administration's secrecy and unchecked power. In his new book, ???Broken Government, Dean systematically delineates how the administration's maneuvers served to undermine public scrutiny and proper congressional process.

 

Paul Slansky writes for many publications including ???Rolling Stone and ???The New Yorker. He is the author of ???The George W. Bush Quiz Book. Slansky is also known as a presidential historian.
