Ken Thompson, Chairman, President & Chief Executive Officer, Wachovia Corporation, will speak with Town Hall Los Angeles on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at The Regency Club. Angelenos will have the opportunity to ask this industry leader about the company???s recent expansion throughout California.

 

In 2007, Thompson discussed Wachovia???s purchase of Golden West and entering California???s banking market. He said, ???We want to be in the fast growing areas of the country. We don't have a lot of interest in getting into areas that aren't growing as rapidly.???

 

Thompson has served in his current position since 2000. Wachovia Corporation is the fourth largest bank holding company in the US based on assets and is the third largest US full-service brokerage firm based on client assets. Wachovia is ranked No. 1 in the Southeast. Their customers include 13 million households and businesses.

 

Speaking in 2006, Thompson explained consolidation in his industry saying, ???Our industry is evolving toward a structure where (there will be) a handful of dominant firms surrounded by specialty companies meeting specific and specialized customer needs."

 

Thompson addresses Town Hall as part of its ongoing Finance and Economy Series. Recently, Town Hall hosted Bob Greifeld, President and Chief Executive Officer, The NASDAQ Stock Market Inc., Jack Kyser, Senior Economist, Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation and Kenneth D.
