UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX PARENT COMPANY PRESIDENT SPEAKS TO TOWN HALL LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles, CA - October 12, 2006 -Brian Mueller, President of Apollo Group, Inc., parent company of the University of Phoenix, speaks to Town Hall Los Angeles on October 26, 2006. Mueller's address brings alternative instruction programs like online education and learning centers into focus as Californians search for education solutions.

Founded in 1973, the Apollo Group subsidiaries include the University of Phoenix, the Institute for Professional Development, the College for Financial Planning, and Western International University. The University of Phoenix has over 190 campuses and learning centers throughout North America and Europe. It has nearly 250,000 students and is the largest private university in the US. Mueller came to the Apollo Group in 1987 and became its President in January 2006. Prior to his current post, Mueller was the Chief Operating Officer. On March 23, 2006, Mueller stated, "We have the most scalable online program in the world, and we are in the process of training our entire staff to sell into the trend of more people wanting to do education online."
