• State of War: El Salvador, MS13, and the Tragedy of Flawed Foreign Policy
    February 4, 2020
    7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Come join the LAWACTH Young Professionals as we host journalist William Wheeler for a deep dive into the tragedy of El Salvador. While it is the smallest nation in Central America, El Salvador has become one of the most violent places on the planet after decades of civil war, homegrown corruption, and American intervention.

Wheeler traveled to and lived in El Salvador to interview former gang members, police, and others who give chilling, unforgettable insider reports of how the gangs are more powerful than ever while the political power of the state has fragmented and has little authority. He will discuss why Salvadorans are fleeing their country and provide much-needed historical context on the migration crisis at the U.S. border.
