Through his 18-year career in public accounting, Mark has developed expertise in auditing and accounting and has a well-rounded service record.
Mark brings significant experience in serving dynamic entities focused on the development and advancement of technology and their manufacturing process. Throughout his career, he has worked on numerous multinational engagements involving large teams spanning across the globe.
Mark joined the Los Angeles office in the summer of 2013 after serving a multiple year assignment as the U.S. resident technical director for the China member firm of Grant Thornton International. Prior to his assignment overseas in China, Mark spent 14 years in the San Francisco Bay area with a focus on serving clients within the firm’s technology and industrial product service lines. Mark has a firm grasp of the unique requirements of accounting for complex agreements in regards to revenue recognition under current U.S. GAAP and has also been a moderator and speaker at seminars that discussed the application of U.S. GAAP under the FASB and IASB’s converged standard on revenue recognition.
As the former U.S. resident technical director for the China member firm of Grant Thornton International, based in Grant Thornton China’s national office located in Beijing, Mark was an integral component of the quality control review process and was an on the ground expert for the application of US GAAP, international auditing standards and PCAOB auditing standards. Mark was involved with the audit and review process of foreign filers who list their stock on US exchanges and was involved with registration statements filed for equity and debt offerings of entities based in China and other parts of Asia. In addition to Mark’s time spent in China, he has also lived in Japan and has extensive experience working with Grant Thornton Japan and speaks Japanese at the conversational level.
