FORMER MLK ADVISOR AND ATTORNEY, CLARENCE JONES, ASKS WHAT WOULD MARTIN DO?

Los Angeles, CA ??" Wednesday, May 7, 2008 ??" Clarence B. Jones, former speechwriter, advisor, and attorney to Martin Luther King, Jr., will speak on his book, ???What Would Martin Do? on Wednesday, May 21 at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel. Jones will offer Angelenos insight into what Dr. King might contribute to current American issues.

 

Jones is currently Executive Consultant to Marks Paneth & Shron LLP, a financial services firm, and a Scholar in Residence at Stanford University???s Martin Luther King, Jr. Research & Education Institute. Previously, Jones was active in the civil rights movement, acting as King???s legal defense and consultant. In addition to aiding King???s writing of ???Letter from a Birmingham Jail, Jones drafted the settlement agreement with Birmingham, Alabama to end public demonstrations and segregation. He received a Letter of Commendation from President Clinton for his work in Birmingham.

 

Using research from Stanford???s King Institute and recently-declassified FBI files, Jones book gives insight into what King???s advice would be for modern times. He writes on his memories with King and shares his mentor???s wisdom in ???What Would Martin Do? Jones has appeared for interviews on CNN, the O???Reilly Factor, The Tavis Smiley Show, and NPR.
