Steve Martin, actor, comedian and author of ???Born Standing Up: A Comic???s Life will appear with actress and comedienne Carol Burnett on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Wilshire Theatre Beverly Hills as part of TOWN HALL???s ongoing series Writers Bloc.
Martin, an award-winning comedian has been sharing his unique brand of humor with television, movie and literary audiences for decades. In an excerpt from his autobiography he writes, ???I did stand-up comedy for eighteen years. Ten of those years were spent learning, four years were spent refining, and four were spent in wild success. My most persistent memory of stand-up is of my mouth being in the present and my mind being in the future??????
Martin gave up stand-up comedy in 1981 at the height of his fame and moved on to acting and writing. He has won three Grammy Awards, two for Best Comedy Recording in 1977 and 1978, one for Best Country Instrumentalist in 2003. Martin has written two novellas, ???Shopgirl and ???The Pleasure of My Company;??? the former was made into a film. He is a recipient of the 2007 Kennedy Center Honors Award.
