Los Angeles, CA ??" Monday, October 15, 2007 ??" TOWN HALL LOS ANGELES welcomes Richard Russo, Author, ???Bridge of Sighs in conversation with Tod Goldberg on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the Fine Arts Theatre, as part of TOWN HALL???s Writers Bloc series, lively chats with celebrated authors.

 

Russo, known for his depiction of blue-collar life, won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize in fiction for ???Empire Falls??? and garnered rave reviews for his hilarious and brilliant satire of contemporary academia in ???Straight Man. Russo also wrote the screenplay for the HBO adaptation for ???Empire Falls and for ???Ice Harvest. He continues his tradition of observing small town life and its impact on marriage, family, and community in his most recent novel ???Bridge of Sighs, released this past September.

 

Goldberg is the author of several short story collections and novels. A contributing writer for a number of magazines and newspapers, Goldberg???s journalism, nonfiction and criticism frequently appear in the Los Angeles Times, Las Vegas CityLife and Palm Springs Life.

 

Throughout its 70 year history, TOWN HALL has hosted discussions with notable authors such as Carl Sagan, Ray Bradbury and Gore Vidal.
