HARTFORD CEO LIAM MCGEE DISCUSSES SMALL BUSINESSES’ ROLE IN ECONOMIC RENEWAL WITH TOWN HALL LA

Los Angeles, CA – Thursday, October 27, 2011 – Liam E. McGee, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, The Hartford, will deliver the address “American Small Businesses: Confidence in Our Future” to Town Hall Los Angeles on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

McGee’s speech coincides with the release of The Hartford Small Business Success Survey, which outlines key issues and trends among the nation’s small businesses to reveal their thoughts about the economy, regulatory issues and the future of small businesses in America. Results specific to Southern California will be announced at Town Hall Los Angeles.

“Small businesses employ more than half of the nation’s private sector workforce and have generated about 75 percent of all new jobs in the past decade,” said McGee. “We must create incentives to make it easier for small businesses to invest, hire, innovate, and grow - and blaze the path out of the stalled economy and toward renewal.”

Founded in 1810, The Hartford does business with 1.2 million or 1 out of 6 businesses in the US. McGee joined The Hartford in 2009, after serving as president of the Consumer and Small Business Bank for Bank of America Corporation. Prior to joining Bank of America in 1990, he held several senior positions at Wells Fargo.

This marks Liam McGee’s fourth appearance before Town Hall Los Angeles.
