• Zillow and the U.S. Housing Market

If you are buying a house, selling a house or even just checking how much your house is worth, chances are you will use the Zillow website. Entrepreneur Spencer Rascoff, the CEO of Zillow, the online real estate database which lists some 110 million homes (both on and off the market) will talk to the Los Angeles World Affairs Council on Wednesday, September 12th. He will discuss Zillow???s business model and how it interacts with the real estate market in the United States which Forbes magazine says is now worth $31.8 trillion. Rascoff will also talk about the reasons why international purchases of US real estate declined significantly last year.

After graduating from college, Rascoff worked as a private equity investor at TPG Capital and as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns and Allen & Company. He started at Zillow when it was being founded in 2005, and was made CEO in 2010. He led Zillow through its IPO in 2011 and was named one of America???s 20 Most Powerful CEOs 40 and Under by Forbes magazine in both 2012 and 2013. He is the author of the New York Times Best Seller Zillow Talk: Rewriting the Rules of Real Estate. He attended Harvard Westlake in Los Angeles and got an A.B. from Harvard University.
