Los Angeles, CA – Thursday, March 3, 2011 – Pam Kehaly, President and General Manager of Anthem Blue Cross - California will address Town Hall Los Angeles on “Health Care Then, Now, and Tomorrow”, Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica.
“Consumers are searching for plans that do more than just pay their medical bills,” said Kehaly. “They’re looking for insurance plans that help them navigate the health care system and manage chronic conditions, provide more value for their money, and help them stay healthy in the long run through innovative wellness programs.”
On health care transparency, Kehaly said, “The health care system defies market logic. What other purchase is made with no or limited insight or regard for cost and quality? This missing dynamic has created an inefficient delivery system.”
Kehaly assumed her current position at Anthem in July, 2010. She has 25 years of health insurance industry experience, including at WellPoint and most recently as president of national accounts at Aetna.
Founded in 1937, Anthem Blue Cross is the largest health benefits company in California with more than 8 million members. In 2010, Anthem partnered with the state’s three hospital associations and the National Health Foundation on a $6 million initiative to improve quality, lower costs, and save lives. Anthem Blue Cross has invested in telemedicine programs that provide access to patients in rural communities. To address the childhood obesity epidemic, Anthem supports programs such as the Boys & Girls Club of America’s Triple Play program, the Live Like a Champion childhood obesity campaign, and a Fit for Life program with the Los Angeles Lakers.
